About the PositionThe American Society of Plant Biologists is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Plant Physiology. This is a tenure-track position that will involve teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Plant Physiology and other related courses to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop and maintain an active research program in plant physiology, involving undergraduate and graduate students.
- Contribute to the department's curriculum development and serve on departmental and university committees.
- Engage in professional activities, including publishing research papers and presenting at conferences.
- Ph.D. in botany, biology, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Postdoctoral research experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity and equity.
- Potential to establish an externally funded active research program with undergraduate and/or master's students.
- Background and experience necessary to perform and teach new/cutting-edge techniques in the classroom and in research settings at the undergraduate and master's levels.
- University teaching experience.
- Experience or familiarity with techniques that promote student engagement and success.
- Evidence of conducting scholarly research activities with undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Evidence of securing past external funding.
- Experience with contemporary/cutting-edge technologies in one's field.
- Evidence of independence and initiative in research.
- Experience or other demonstrated potential to develop courses in one's field under the plant physiology discipline.
