Job Title: Mobile Phlebotomist

This is a contract job opportunity, with potential for permanent placement.

Job Summary:
  • The primary function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
  • Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
  • Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explains the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrates technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Fully understands all physician orders.
  • Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.
  • Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Packages specimens for transport.
  • Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attends annual department trainings.
  • Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Requirements:
  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience.
  • Clean driving record.
