Position Summary:
The Fiber and Copper Splicer will be responsible for performing tasks related to fiber optic and copper cable installation and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret technical drawings and understand fiber optic color codes to install and test fiber cables in various environments.
- Operate fiber fusion splicing machines, including mass fusion splicing equipment, and utilize various OTDR and power meters.
- Install both aerial and underground splice closures and other common closures associated with fiber optic cable splicing and termination.
- Conduct testing using OTDRs, Power Meter/Light Sources, and VFLs, ensuring documentation aligns with customer specifications.
- Bond and ground fibers according to client requirements.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with colleagues and clients while adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Foreman or Construction Manager.
- Familiarity with Fujikura splicing tools and materials is advantageous.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a fiber splicer.
- Proficient in working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of common construction practices for fiber cable.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to carry a 24-foot ladder and utilize fall protection when necessary.
- Willingness to work up to 6 days a week in various weather conditions and travel as needed.
- All candidates must adhere to safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment.
