Position Overview:

Job Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the pharmacist is to guarantee the safe and appropriate administration of medications within the healthcare setting, adhering to established protocols, regulations, and the highest professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify physician orders, screening for potential drug interactions and incompatibilities prior to dispensing.
  • Maintain comprehensive medication records for each patient or employee.
  • Oversee the work of pharmacy technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping for controlled substances in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of quality care programs and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Guarantee the safe and sterile preparation of intravenous medications and mixtures.
  • Provide drug information and guidance to medical and nursing staff as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records of supplies and medications dispensed.
  • Engage in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, escalating issues to management as necessary.
  • Adhere to all attendance and punctuality policies.
  • Participate in educational programs relevant to job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) preferred; a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution is acceptable.

Licensure: Valid New York State Pharmacist license and registration required.

Experience: Previous hospital experience is preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Work Schedule: Part-Time, with a standard commitment of 22.50 hours per week.

Working Conditions:

  • Significant manual dexterity and coordination required.
  • Potential exposure to occupational hazards.
  • Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to various environmental factors.
