Speech-Language Pathologist Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Speech-Language Pathologist to provide comprehensive speech and language services to students in our educational team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement tailored Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and therapy plans to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in small groups, focusing on speech, language, voice, and fluency.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to integrate speech and language goals into classroom and home activities.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Educate and train school staff and parents on strategies to support students' communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate records, including progress notes, reports, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as school district policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Current Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Certification: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a School Speech-Language Pathologist License from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
  • Clearances: Must pass a criminal background check and provide a current tuberculosis (TB) test clearance as required by North Carolina schools.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school setting is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Familiarity with school-based therapy models and the IEP process.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
Working Conditions:
  • The position requires working in a school environment, which may involve travel between schools within the district.
  • May require lifting or moving equipment used in therapy sessions.
