Job DescriptionThe Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, and team members. This role involves performing protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner, coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, and threats to life and property.
Key Responsibilities- Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner by maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Promote a positive and caring work environment by addressing and resolving any conflict in a calm and poised manner.
- Patrol the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
- Evaluate situations and make logical decisions on how to proceed and direct work to ensure optimum security.
- Maintain order in the hotel, dealing with the welfare of guests, coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, safety hazards, and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational, and persuasive manner.
- Handle undesired conduct, violations of hotel policy, and civil laws as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, employees, patrons, and property.
- Answer security telephone and safety hotline calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
- Be familiar with all applicable laws and codes to ensure proper compliance.
- Memorize and monitor life safety systems, including accurate layout of the entire building, locations of standpipes, fire extinguishers, complete alarm reports, and check and report any pertinent information from each shift.
- Provide accurate information to inquirers for directions and hours of operations.
- Receive, record, and secure found property.
- Observe and monitor for any unusual activity and in the case of suspicious behavior report directly, via radio, to the supervisor on duty; report any alarms similarly.
- Assist guests with door lock and in-room safe problems.
- Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots.
- Administer CPR and First Aid.
- Respond to guest complaints, conduct research to develop the most effective solutions, and negotiate results.
- Project a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience required, hospitality industry preferred.
- Should be able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English in order to communicate with guests and team members.
- Have a strong attention to details.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be a team player.
