About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Manager to join our team at soulspajackson. As a Banquet Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Banquet Department, with a focus on cost control and exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of a banquet or event, including set-up, serving, and cleanup.
- Hire, train, coach, and review banquet staff.
- Approach all encounters with guests, internal and external, in a friendly manner.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
- Prepare schedules for Banquet employees.
- Prepare payroll & tip distribution for the Banquet department.
- Assist as necessary in the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet functions.
- Coordinate all banquet-related food and beverage requirements with the appropriate department(s).
- Keep kitchen informed of accurate counts for plating.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate all Banquet Team.
- Review menu/service with Catering Manager.
- Maintain up-to-date details on banquet functions and communicate with the Banquet team.
- Respond to guests' requests as needed.
- Prepare banquet checks, obtain guest signatures, and inform clients of payment procedures at the completion of all assigned functions.
- Prepare a liquor requisition for banquet bars.
- Responsible for safety and cleanliness of service area.
- Attend Weekly Food & Beverage Meeting to ensure proper communication between departments.
- Attend BEO meetings.
- Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
- Ensure that pre-meal meetings are conducted for all functions.
- Submit orders for all supplies for approval and maintain inventory levels.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of food and beverage/hospitality leadership experience required.
- Banquet or event experience required.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Able to utilize payroll systems, and transferrable knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and other computer-based programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Long hours, sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
Medium work - exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Ability to stand for long hours at a time.
