Position Overview
Marotta Controls is seeking a skilled Senior Reliability and Safety Engineer to enhance our esteemed engineering team. This role is pivotal in the design and development of cutting-edge products for aerospace and military applications, including advanced weapon systems such as missiles and guided munitions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to pinpoint safety-critical components, identify non-conformances, and propose design modifications.
  • Prepare comprehensive reliability, maintainability, and system safety documentation for review by IPT and clients.
  • Conduct system safety evaluations in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and SAE ARP4761 standards.
  • Execute maintainability assessments following MIL-STD-470 guidelines.
  • Perform reliability forecasting based on MIL-HDBK-217 methodologies.
  • Analyze customer requirements related to reliability, safety, and maintainability, providing thorough RMS/C evaluations.
  • Balance considerations of cost, technical feasibility, scheduling, and risk management.
Work Environment
This position entails interaction within both a professional office setting and a manufacturing environment. The role requires the use of standard office equipment, as well as adherence to safety protocols in areas requiring protective gear.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the aerospace sector, focusing on Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety engineering.
  • Experience in New Product Development within the aerospace or military domains.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Preferred experience in electromechanical design and testing.
  • Proficient documentation and technical writing abilities.
  • Familiarity with reliability analysis tools such as Relex, Weibull++, and Reliasoft XFRACAS.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for security clearance.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent need to reach with hands and arms, and to manipulate objects.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move around the facility as needed.
  • May need to lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
