Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Nurse Specialist in Post Surgical Care. This role will involve coordinating and implementing nursing care for patients recovering from surgery, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and collaborating with a diverse healthcare team to provide compassionate, culturally competent care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time frame utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination;
  • Plan individualized patient care, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes;
  • Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment, adhering to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment;
  • Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Document accurately and timely; and
  • Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university;
  • Licensed in the State of Tennessee;
  • BLS within 90 days of hire;
  • Basic arrhythmia certification within 6 months of hire (for certain units);
  • AACN, CCRN, or CCP certification within two years of hire (for critical care);
  • ONS chemo/immunotherapy certification within one year of hire (for oncology);
  • PALS certification within 6 months of hire (for pediatric emergency room);
  • ENPC or TNCC certification within 6 months of hire (for pediatric emergency room); and
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and legibly.
