Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at the City of Odessa. As a key member of our Utilities/WTP department, you will be responsible for performing basic maintenance work in the operation of our City Water Treatment Plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the operation of water treatment and distribution facilities, or wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
  • Collect water treatment samples and take meter readings.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment according to job specifications and Utilities Department technical standards.
  • Report variations in operating conditions and anomalies to supervisor.
  • Maintain plant work areas, tools, and equipment in a safe and orderly condition.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in operation and maintenance of WW facilities.
  • OSHA safety rules and regulations, and safety standards in utility plant environments.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a Water Treatment Plant facility. Required to perform moderate physical work, and lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Must be available to work on rotating shift and must be available for 24-hour call. Work overtime is required.

License and Certification

A Texas State Driver's License is required. Class D Wastewater license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is required within the specified timeframe prescribed by the department.
