Job Title: School District Nurse-RN

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School District Nurse-RN to join our team at Clifton Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing health services to students, implementing district health services programs, and serving as a liaison between school personnel, families, and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to students using professional assessment skills, individualized healthcare plans, and established school health protocols.
  • Assess student problems, communicate with parents, and ensure appropriate referrals and follow-up as needed.
  • Implement individualized healthcare plans and evaluate outcomes of skilled and direct nursing care for medically fragile students.
  • Ensure medications are administered to students according to district policy and procedures.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate LVNs and other staff with responsibility for assisting students with health needs.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain inventory.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program.
  • Valid registered nurse license (RN) from the Texas Board of Nursing or from a state participating in the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current automatic external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificates.
  • Three years nursing experience, with experience as a school nurse preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:

The School District Nurse-RN will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and must maintain emotional control under stress. The position requires exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
