Basic Function

Under the supervision of an assigned manager, identify, inform, and recruit students eligible for college programs and services; assist in the coordination of an assigned program.

Representative Duties

Assist in the formulation of an assigned program's objectives and goals; recommend policy modifications and implementation procedures; prepare various required reports related to the assigned program.
Collect a variety of data, including calculating salaries and benefits, projected student numbers to be served, and expenditures for various individual college programs.
Identify eligible students; schedule and conduct individual or small group sessions with prospective students; provide information and assistance regarding the assigned program; respond to inquiries; interpret and clarify project policies and eligibility criteria.
Conduct workshops related to job placement; interview students to determine appropriate sites for job placement.
Organize and conduct campus tours and department visitations for interested students; maintain contact and perform follow-ups with recruited students; interpret placement tests for program eligibility purposes.
Provide orientation regarding the college to community groups, agencies, and institutions; distribute information related to college programs and services, including recruitment, enrollment, and financial aid.
Assist in completing financial aid applications; monitor students through the financial aid process; track student academic progress for eligibility purposes.
Assist students in applying to four-year colleges and follow up with the appropriate counselor.
Establish and maintain relationships with public agencies and service-area schools, both public and private; respond to written and verbal inquiries concerning the program.
Establish and maintain connections with public and private employment agencies; stay informed about local hiring trends.
Assist in coordinating various individual college programs.
Attend and participate in various conferences and workshops related to the assigned program; drive a vehicle to different sites to establish and monitor job placements, perform outreach duties, and participate in job fairs and job placement seminars.
Provide training and work direction to student assistants as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to:
Associate degree with coursework in behavioral science, business, or a related field
AND
two years of experience in a student services area.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.

SALARY RANGE$3, $5,543.79 monthlyMaximum Entry Level Salary: $4,122.12 monthly
