MedStar Health is seeking a Lead Cardiovascular Technologist to enhance our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will act as a clinical expert for invasive cardiac and vascular interventions, providing support and guidance to fellow staff members while participating in various committees as needed.

As a Lead Cardiovascular Technologist, your responsibilities will include assisting physicians during both routine and intricate invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. You will be involved in procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and other interventional techniques, while also performing essential ancillary tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and scrub in during a range of invasive procedures, ensuring a sterile environment in accordance with industry standards. Prepare necessary tools and materials for the physician, while also documenting vital patient information and monitoring equipment.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and hemodynamic parameters throughout procedures, assisting with various cardiac support devices as required. You will also be responsible for drawing blood samples and performing necessary tests to ensure patient safety.
  • Document all relevant data meticulously before, during, and after procedures, ensuring accurate coding for billing and statistical purposes. Provide clear post-procedure instructions to patients and their families.
  • Respond to any complications arising from procedures, such as bleeding or discomfort, and provide appropriate interventions. Serve as a mentor and resource for other technologists, offering training and support as needed.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is functioning correctly, conducting quality assurance checks and reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Cardiovascular Technologist training program or related educational background in basic sciences.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Cardiovascular Technology.
  • Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Technologist in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (R.T.(R)(CI)).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Preferred experience in complex cardiovascular laboratory procedures.
