The Embedded Systems Engineer will apply knowledge in diverse programming languages, communication technologies, embedded systems, and operating environments to devise solutions that ensure the overall cyber resilience and durability of defense platforms.
This role will be part of a team of engineers tackling complex challenges encountered by the Department of Defense in the pursuit of our national security objectives. Much of the work will necessitate independent research and analysis, alongside collaboration with other teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct development of Linux kernel and device drivers for embedded systems
- Generate Board Support Packages (BSPs)
- Execute fundamental hardware designs utilizing schematic capture and PCB layout tools
- Perform hardware and signal analysis, troubleshooting with oscilloscopes or other bus analysis instruments
- Create IP cores for programmable logic devices
- Design and implement embedded software applications across various architectures
- Identify and pursue opportunities for automation and process enhancement
- Collaborate within a small team in a fast-paced, cooperative, and dynamic environment focused on achieving results
- Engage in technical discussions and presentations; articulate and summarize intricate concepts clearly; confidently present and demonstrate personal contributions
- Participate in team-based planning and estimation efforts
- Carry out software development tasks as required in high-level or scripting languages
- Undertake any other related activities as directed by management
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in writing and integrating software in C
- Experience with one or more object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Java
- Familiarity with Linux command-line and scripting languages like Python
- Knowledge of Linux build systems and compilers such as make and gcc
- Experience with virtualization technologies
- Proficiency in circuit design and PCB layout software such as Cadence Allegro-X
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure software development lifecycle considerations
- Familiarity with networking principles
- Awareness of Agile methodologies and practices
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a computer programming discipline (e.g., Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Capability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
