Postdoctoral Research Position in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to investigate the mechanisms of gain-of-function by mutant p53 and devise strategies to specifically target cancers carrying gain-of-function (GOF) p53 mutant.

Job Summary

The postdoctoral research position is available to investigate the role of p53 mutations in oncogenesis. The research involves studies on the mechanism of gain of oncogenic function by mutant p53, as well as innovative targeting of GOF mutant p53 for therapeutic benefit. This position provides excellent mentoring and training opportunities.

Essential Qualifications
  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related fields
  • Experience with DNA cloning, immunostaining, and viruses
  • Mouse breeding and mouse tumor studies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written scientific communication skills
  • Hands-on experience in cancer molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and/or pharmacology
  • Ability to design and perform experiments, and to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to maintain detailed documentation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to diversity

This is a restricted position with a set end date. Continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and/or performance.
