Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Coordinator II to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Dayton. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires a strong background in aquatic programming and supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Training: Assist in the supervision of swim lessons and staff trainings, ensuring that safety procedures and best practices are followed according to YMCA aquatics standards.
  • Program Management: Assist the Aquatics Director with swim lesson rosters and accounts, and provide excellent member service.
  • Teaching and Instruction: Teach YUSA YSLv6 standard swim lessons and private swim lessons as needed, and assist in the training and monitoring of swim lesson staff.
  • Facility Operations: Assist in ensuring the swim lesson instructor schedule is maintained, and assist with obtaining replacement staff based on time off requests.
  • Communication and Promotion: Communicate effectively with program participants, promote aquatics and other YMCA programs, and communicate any suggestions to improve the aquatics facility.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; a 2-year college degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science/related field or applicable experience is preferred.
  • Certifications: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and YMCA Lifeguard certification (or ASHI Lifeguard certification with YMCA Crossover within 90 days of employment).
  • Experience: 1 year or more of related lifesaving experience preferred; 1 year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Basic knowledge of pool chemistry and maintenance, computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, and ability to learn internal YMCA software.
