We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant I to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a Medical Assistant I, you will provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons, and perform patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care support, including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, and accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms.
- Assist physicians with various procedures, take vital signs, and relay instructions to patients and families.
- Perform clerical responsibilities, including sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, and completing forms and requisitions.
- Enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system and prepare prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
- Inventory, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
- Set up examination rooms and instruments in accordance with proper sterilization techniques.
- Maintain logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, and sterilization processes.
- Check expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and dispose of them appropriately.
- Assist in maintaining medical charts, including filing, op reports, test results, and home care forms.
- May schedule surgeries/procedures, prepare charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms as necessary.
- May perform proficient phlebotomy duties and appointment scheduling and registration for patients.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program from an approved school or equivalent training and experience
- 2 years of Medical Assistant experience without the certificate program
- Certified as Medical Assistant preferred
The Mount Sinai Health System offers a competitive salary range of $32.94 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and hospital need.
