Job Title: Research Nurse

Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is seeking a highly skilled Research Nurse to join our team. As a Research Nurse, you will play a critical role in coordinating the implementation and conduct of human subject research projects, ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the implementation and conduct of research projects, ensuring adherence to research protocol requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between investigators, research personnel, and central research administration offices.
  • Utilize the nursing process as a basis for patient care.
  • Assess research subjects, complete nursing assessments, and document findings in research subject records.
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with research subjects, families, and research teams.
  • Identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning as appropriate.
  • Perform telephone triage and nursing procedures as directed by physicians or LIPs.
  • Evaluate, initiate, and maintain standards of care consistent with CCHS policies and procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians or LIPs.
  • Direct, coordinate, and participate in the evaluation and supervision of nursing care provided to research subjects.
  • Participate in education, research, and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of research protocols to coordinate the comprehensive and compliant execution of assigned protocols.
  • Assist with preparation for audits and response to audits as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional relationships, including frequent and open effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Document the education and training of research personnel as needed.
  • Assist with the development of protocol-specific checklists.
  • Assist in educating patients/families and teams on research protocols.
  • Provide and document education as needed.
  • Conduct and document the informed consent process.
  • May assist with research project budget development.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be presented upon hire.
  • Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer-specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facilities' accreditation cycle, if they work in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center, or cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility.
