Culinary Worker II

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Worker II to join our team at Southern Illinois University. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our students, faculty, and staff.

• Prepare and cook a variety of food items, including meats, vegetables, and desserts.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, including cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas.
• Set up and serve food in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Participate in menu planning and preparation.
• Assist in training and supervising student assistants and other team members as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of work experience in food preparation in a commercial setting.
• Illinois Department of Public Health, Food Handler Training Certification required.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
