Nursing Supervisor Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Supervisor to join our team at Aspire Nursing and Rehab of Washington. As a key member of our nursing staff, you will be responsible for supervising nursing activities and facility operations for one shift.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in directing the day-to-day functions of the facility's nursing services and other areas of facility operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures that govern day-to-day functions of the nursing department.
  • Ensure that reference materials are maintained at the nurses' station and are kept current.
  • Implement and maintain established facility objectives, consistent with federal and state licensure regulations and nursing standards of practice.
  • Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
  • Recommend equipment and supplies needed by the department and ensure that an adequate level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. is always maintained on the unit.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Evaluate staff competency during care delivery and provide individual, small group, and large group education as indicated.
Requirements:
  • Must possess an RN Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved RN diploma program.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a staff nurse in a long-term care facility.
  • Training in geriatric nursing practices preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a related setting is preferred.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in this state.
  • Must possess the ability to solve problems and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agency personnel, and the public.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess the ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and to coach and supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult personnel.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident's condition.
