Job DescriptionThe Scribe Role

The Scribe is responsible for capturing accurate and detailed documentation of encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely manner. This role also assists physicians with basic patient care and medical procedures, directs patient flow, and ensures site lab compliance with Department of Health (DOH) regulations.

The Scribe provides unparalleled customer service to our patients, adhering to established protocols and work processes, and successfully manages volume without compromising quality.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians with basic patient care and medical procedures, including phlebotomy, Urine Drug Screens, rapid strep, UA, EKG, and procedure set-ups.
  • Ensure Department of Health (DOH) compliance of site lab and exam rooms, including logbook maintenance, checking for expired medications and supplies, and proper handling of specimens.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, x-rays, or other facilities on site as needed.
  • Maintain a quick pace in a fast-paced urgent care facility for the duration of scheduled shifts (8-12 hours, excluding meals and breaks).
  • Facilitate diagnostic tests (e.g., CT, MRI, ultrasounds) and referrals to medical specialists for follow-up care via Aftercare.
  • Communicate with patients, pharmacies, and physicians over the phone under physician guidance.
  • Help maintain a clean, courteous, and professional working environment.
  • Ensure the site is fully stocked with supplies.
  • Provide compassionate care to our patients.
Qualifications
  • High School Degree or GED, Undergraduate degree a plus.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or phlebotomy and EKG certifications a plus, but not required (training will be provided).
  • Friendly and professional with excellent bedside manner.
  • Flexible with full-time work schedule, including weekends.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must exhibit passion for outstanding results and compassion for those we work with and serve.
  • Team player.
  • Flexible with full-time work schedule, including weekends.
  • Knowledge of third-party payor requirements preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for detail and ability to work independently required.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Happy and positive thinking, able to project this attitude around others.
  • Flexible and adaptable nature to work in a continuously evolving environment.
  • Passion for helping others in an urgent care environment.
  • Bilingual language skills required or preferred based on site location.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
Physical Requirements

The job may require lifting light to moderate amounts of weight (e.g., boxes of medical/facility supplies) to assist team members.

The job also requires the ability to maintain a quick pace in a fast-paced urgent care medical facility for the duration of scheduled shifts, minus meal/break time.

Pay Rate

$19.75/hr
