Position Summary
The Receivables Management Specialist is tasked with overseeing the daily processing of payments, managing collections for overdue accounts, and providing essential support to the finance department. This role also involves reconciling accounts, verifying and documenting payments, generating routine financial reports, and professionally reaching out to clients regarding overdue or problematic accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients through phone, email, or traditional mail to secure payment on outstanding invoices.
- Deliver customer service by collaborating with team members across various departments to resolve client inquiries related to accounts receivable.
- Facilitate credit card transactions via an electronic payment processing system.
- Accept check payments and prepare bank deposit documentation.
- Accurately record credit card and check payments in accounting software, ensuring precise information and balanced batch reports.
- Authorize the release of credit holds, documenting relevant details as necessary.
- Initiate write-offs in the accounting system, ensuring all pertinent information is recorded.
- Update customer records with state tax rates as required.
- Maintain accurate and current customer records within the accounting software.
- Perform filing, copying, and other general administrative tasks.
- Generate accounting reports as needed.
- Participate in cross-training with accounting personnel and collaborate with other departments to foster a supportive teamwork environment.
- Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Education
- Associate's degree with a concentration in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Intermediate understanding of accounting principles and GAAP standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications, particularly in spreadsheets and/or accounting software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain composure under pressure and interact effectively with others through various communication methods.
