The Nurse Practitioner - Urology at RMCHCS Hospital is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the outpatient setting. This role requires a strong foundation in urological conditions, patient assessment, and medical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Urological Patient Care: Provide comprehensive medical care to patients with urological diseases, injuries, and disorders, including recurrent UTIs, atrophic vaginitis, BPH, elevated PSA, overactive bladder, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary retention, erectile dysfunction, and urological cancers.
- Diagnostic Testing and Procedures: Order diagnostic testing, perform general urologic procedures like urethral and suprapubic catheterization, urodynamic studies, posterior tibial nerve stimulation, pessary management, and other related tasks.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Consult with Urologists for patient care, schedule surgical procedures, discuss alternate courses of treatment, handle complicated cases, and address patient concerns.
- Documentation and Communication: Document patient interactions, services delivered, and lab results in a clear and concise manner, communicating effectively with patients and physicians.
- Professional Development: Maintain required licenses and certifications, submit updated verifications to HR, and actively uphold RMCHCS Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Nurse Practitioner required.
- Previous experience in urology preferred but not required.
- New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners License required.
- Current appropriate certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc. (if not current upon hire, must be obtained within three (3) months of hire).
