POSITION OVERVIEW: Under general supervision, the role encompasses a diverse range of cleaning responsibilities aimed at ensuring a pristine, organized, and secure environment. This is a full-time position during the second shift and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and bathrooms following established protocols;
- Dust, wipe down furniture, and maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming; manage waste disposal and replenish restroom supplies;
- Conduct cleaning tasks in various campus facilities; assist with setup and breakdown for numerous campus and community events; collaborate with staff and the public to address custodial needs and resolve issues for optimal operations;
- Perform floor maintenance including stripping, cleaning, and buffing, as well as vacuuming and shampooing carpets as necessary;
- Utilize and care for assigned cleaning equipment and tools, including buffers, vacuums, mops, and squeegees for the upkeep of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture;
- Wash walls and equipment, adhering to OSHA and institutional safety protocols during work assignments;
- Secure and unlock assigned buildings, ensuring safety by checking for unauthorized access and turning off lights when facilities are not in use;
- Follow guidelines for the proper use of cleaning supplies in accordance with OSHA and institutional safety standards;
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed;
- Clean accessible interior and exterior windows and maintain associated blinds as required;
- Manage waste and recycling materials following appropriate disposal procedures;
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance; and
- Carry out additional related duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of the work unit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Candidates must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and be able to articulate and perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment;
- Familiarity with various cleaning techniques and the preservation of different surfaces; proficient use of a wide array of cleaning chemicals in compliance with state and federal regulations; safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;

- Ability to engage with individuals at all organizational levels and maintain enthusiasm for both routine tasks and higher-profile responsibilities;

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of custodial experience is preferred, particularly in an educational setting with knowledge of cleaning products and floor and carpet maintenance equipment.
