Job Summary

Co-Alliance is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Crop Technician Assistant to join our team. As a Crop Technician Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our agricultural operations by performing various crop diagnostic tasks throughout the growing season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scouting: Conduct thorough field inspections to identify weeds, insects, diseases, growth stages, stand counts, and any other field anomalies. Report observations back to the Ag Tech team.
  • UAV Flights: Utilize drones to make aerial observations, produce imagery, and collect data.
  • Tissue Sampling: Collect corn or soybean tissue and prepare it for testing.
  • Soil Moisture Probing: Perform soil moisture tests in designated fields and report data back to the Ag Tech team. Install moisture monitoring equipment used to make watering recommendations on irrigated fields.
  • Soil Sampling: Collect soil nitrate samples to monitor in-season nutrient availability.
  • Field Signs: Organize, place, and remove field signs.
  • Travel: 100% travel in territory.
  • Work Environment: 75% in fields, 25% in training/tours/events.
  • Flexible Work Schedule: Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional Development: Participate in weekly professional development activities.

Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and under all weather conditions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to understand new concepts, and learn quickly.
  • Self-motivated and able to complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Agronomy students preferred, but any student with a genuine interest in working in the agricultural/agronomy field is considered.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to use an iPad, GPS software, and field equipment.
