Job Summary

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking a skilled Welder Mechanic to join our team in the Bozeman Shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of work associated with the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel machinery and equipment.
  • Fabricate specialized parts, design and manufacture systems, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Clean, inspect, and determine the course of repair, including restoring close tolerances with accuracy, machining and/or replacing functional parts, devices, and control instruments.
  • Reinstall and assemble equipment and devices to test performance.
Requirements

The incumbent must have the ability to follow maintenance procedures and have a strong understanding of mechanical systems.
