Quality Assurance Lead

Philadelphia Pennsylvania, United States City of Philadelphia Full time
Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Lead is tasked with overseeing a dedicated team responsible for managing testing operations for the OPAL ERP and DW/BI initiative.

The team's primary focus includes financial and grants evaluation, along with procurement and supply chain assessment. These positions are permanent and exempt, transitioning to maintenance and support following project completion.

The objective of this role is to collaborate within a team that will assess project requirements, refine them, and work alongside implementation consultants to design the system. Responsibilities also include conducting initial user acceptance testing, training municipal personnel, facilitating system integration with other software, and launching the software in phases.

Post-launch, an optimization phase will ensue, during which the team will analyze and implement enhancements to improve system performance.

Given that the ERP operates on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, there will be ongoing needs for support, testing, and training for new functionalities every 3 to 6 months.

Key Responsibilities

Throughout the OPAL ERP and DW/BI project, the Quality Assurance Lead will:

1. Develop, lead, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases based on project requirements and technical specifications.

2. Collaborate with development teams to ensure thorough testing of modules and applications.

3. Work alongside functional and IT counterparts to establish testing workflows, including system, integration, user acceptance, and readiness deployment phases.

4. Identify, document, and track defects throughout the testing process.

5. Troubleshoot and resolve software issues effectively.

6. Oversee quality assurance initiatives to ensure high standards.

7. Establish and maintain defined standards and processes for software or product testing.

8. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations regarding software usability and functionality.

9. Participate in design reviews, offering insights on requirements, product design, and potential challenges.

10. Mentor the team in software testing best practices.

11. Ensure adherence to programming best practices, accepted web standards, and guidelines set by upstream sources.

12. Offer guidance and support to junior team members and peers.

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Proven experience in leading system, integration, user acceptance, and dress rehearsal script development.

- Comprehensive knowledge of software testing tools, processes, and methodologies.

- Ability to navigate and rectify flawed process steps effectively.

- Familiarity with current workflows and their functionality in the new environment.

- Understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Experience in formulating test script scenarios, including system, integration, user acceptance, and dress rehearsal scripts.
