Position Overview:

Tetra Tech is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Chemist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze chemical data from environmental samples to evaluate their behavior in various ecosystems;
  • Identify hazardous substances in samples and assess contamination levels;
  • Validate analytical results for organic and inorganic components by interpreting laboratory methods, outcomes, chromatograms, and mass spectra;
  • Compile remedial investigation reports and progress updates by developing interactive dashboards using Power BI and Tableau;
  • Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments and equipment;
  • Oversee the proper preservation, handling, and transfer of samples to laboratories;
  • Ensure laboratory methodologies and quality control practices are adequate for data precision;
  • Perform data cleaning and transformation for the integration of analytical data into databases such as Access, SQL Server, and ENDAR;
  • Write SQL queries and Python scripts for data analysis and reporting;
  • Utilize Power Query and Excel for data table preparation;
  • Conduct statistical evaluations using ProUCL and RStudio software;
  • Manage the development of documents for environmental site assessments, including writing, coordinating with technical reviewers, and supervising the creation of data visuals, maps, and graphics;
  • Prepare and review Quality Assurance Project Plans, ensuring that proposed laboratory methodologies and quality control practices meet standards for accuracy and validity.

Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

  • Science Laboratory Technician or similar roles involving:
  • Ordering and managing laboratory chemicals and supplies;
  • Researching methodologies and testing experiments;
  • Preparing solutions and reagents for Chemistry and Environmental Science labs;
  • Overseeing hazardous waste management;
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment such as pH meters and spectrometers;
  • Troubleshooting instrumental and experimental issues;
  • Providing training on statistical analysis and Excel functions;
  • Collecting experimental data to refine methodologies.

Degree / Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry is required.
