As the Paving Crew Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate the activities of the paving team, actively participating in the work as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project requirements and communicate tasks to crew members effectively.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and incident reporting procedures. Address issues with the Asphalt Operations Manager and Safety Manager as required.
- Direct and lead workers engaged in construction tasks.
- Supervise teams to achieve high-quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork, and pride.
- Review and confirm the accuracy of employee time sheets before submission to payroll.
- Analyze and resolve employee-related issues, collaborating with Human Resources for harassment concerns.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel regarding equipment maintenance needs on assigned projects.
- Engage with the public and clients in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
- Follow established Crew Lead procedures and protocols as outlined in training sessions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in utility construction.
- Ability to mentor, train, and manage team members effectively.
- Strong coordination, time management, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse individuals and roles.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in heavy civil operations construction, with a preference for asphalt/paving experience.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, surveys, and job specifications.
- A strong commitment to safety practices.
- Willingness to travel as required throughout Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Dakotas.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch, and sit.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly work extended hours outdoors in diverse weather conditions at multiple project sites.
- Travel may be necessary.
