The Lead Applications Scientist is a professional with a background in Medical Technology, tasked with engaging in research and development within System Verification Laboratories, focusing on manual analysis of samples.

Conduct manual analyses as per project specifications over designated periods.

The Lead Applications Scientist will leverage their Medical Technologist expertise to conduct comprehensive system-level evaluations, verification testing, and software workflow assessments.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


With minimal oversight, the incumbent will perform evaluations of new or modified hematology analyzers, ensuring that all testing is executed and documented in alignment with established protocols, procedures, and timelines.

Carry out system verification assessments including customer workflows, Quality Control, Calibration, and analysis of blood samples.
Guarantee that products fulfill required specifications.
Assist in diagnosing product performance challenges by collaborating with Software, Engineering, and addressing specific customer application inquiries.
Utilize statistical methods to analyze data, interpret technical findings, and promptly document and report any issues.

Draft procedures and reports, ensuring meticulous documentation of test execution and results in accordance with departmental standards.

Prepare presentations and actively participate in design evaluations.
Adhere to all safety protocols and policies within the laboratory environment.

REQUIREMENTS:


A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience.

Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP/AMT preferred).

Essential Experience Includes:

  • Comprehensive understanding of laboratory workflows.
  • Proficiency in hematology, including CBC, 5 Part Differential, and result review.
  • Experience in executing and reviewing decision rules with reflex and rerun test orders.
  • Familiarity with LIS test order processing, review, and result release.
  • Knowledge of fundamental laboratory statistics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); familiarity with data analysis software such as JMP is advantageous.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation capabilities, along with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
  • PREFERRED: Previous experience with Beckman Coulter DxH Hematology instrumentation.
  • PREFERRED: Experience with Remisol middleware and LIS configuration and troubleshooting.
