Job Summary

The Washougal School District is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Night Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and safety of our facilities. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our schools and offices are well-maintained, attractive, and safe for students, staff, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain assigned school or district facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, corridors, and grounds.
  • Inspect facilities to identify and report necessary repairs, vandalism, or equipment breakage.
  • Monitor students and provide for their safety and welfare.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs, including light bulb replacement, unclogging drains, and cleaning grease traps.
  • Prepare facilities for daily operations, including closing gates, lowering flags, and locking doors.
  • Prepare reports, including requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, and inventory records.
  • Respond to immediate safety and operations concerns, including facility damage, unauthorized persons, and alarms.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • WA State Misconduct Clearance and WSP/FBI Background Clearance.
  • Ability to work under direct supervision using standardized procedures.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups and work as part of a team.
Working Environment

The Night Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment with minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. The position requires significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
