Ultrasound Technologist Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in transverse and cross-sectional anatomical and pathological presentations, as well as technical operations associated with ultrasound modalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols, as requested by referring physicians and as directed by radiologists.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to obtaining ultrasound studies, including performing correct exams and ensuring timely completion.
  • Report initial impressions to radiologists and review images before releasing patients.
  • Coordinate patient flow on assigned units to maximize productivity and minimize waiting times.
  • Collaborate with patient financial associates to minimize delays and potential safety issues for outpatient populations.
  • Assist with equipment upkeep, adhere to safety requirements, and report any need for repairs.
  • Clean equipment and work areas, and maintain inventory levels.
Requirements:
  • Completion of training in an approved ultrasound program.
  • Competency in didactic coursework and clinical procedures as established by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • ARDMS or ARRT certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • 1-2 years of hospital-based experience preferred.
