About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Cabinetmaker to join our team at Georgia State University. As a Cabinetmaker, you will be responsible for fabricating and installing cabinets, shelving, trim, and molding. You will work closely with our facilities management team to ensure that all projects are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate and install cabinets, shelving, trim, and molding
  • Perform journeyman-level work in all cabinetry-related tasks
  • Build and repair furniture, including cabinets, tables, shelves, desks, bookcases, bulletin boards, chairs, and other wooden equipment
  • Lay out material, machinery, and assembly
  • Repair and clean furniture for refurnishing, including the fabrication of new parts and finishing
  • Build and repair windows
  • Operate various types of machinery, including mortises, sharpers, ripsaws, joiners, planners, bandsaws, and related equipment
  • Read plans, blueprints, and shop sketches and accurately determine work to be performed and resources required
  • Complete and submit all required project documentation for processing as required
  • Maintain required records and logs
  • Use and maintain tools, materials, and equipment in a secure, safe, clean, and orderly manner

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and five years of related experience
  • Technical or vocational degree and three years of related experience
  • Combination of education and related experience
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary vocational/technical school program directly related to the cabinetry trade
  • Cabinet, countertop, shelf, and trim work fabrication (interior and exterior finishes) or one year of experience performing cabinetry work
