Job Title: Head Swim Coach / Assistant Swim Coach

Job Overview:

The Head Swim Coach, under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, is responsible for overseeing the swim team and managing assistant swim coaches. The Assistant Swim Coach supports the coaching of the swim team and pre-swim team programs, assists with swim meet logistics, and performs administrative tasks as assigned by the Head Swim Coach and/or Aquatics Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Head Swim Coach:
  • Maintain effective communication with other coaches.
  • Organize and plan competitive and social events.
  • Handle meet entries and results.
  • Coordinate seasonal schedules with approval from the Director.
  • Plan and manage program capacities.
  • Address questions regarding all swim program levels.
  • Be knowledgeable about all aspects of the swim program.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of high-quality aquatic programs.
  • Guide staff and volunteers with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Assistant Swim Coach:
  • Assist in coaching the swim team and pre-swim team program.
  • Be present on the pool deck during practices, working with various age groups to develop competitive swimming skills.
  • Attend all swim meets and championships.
  • Assist with managing individual and team entries for swim meets.
  • Be available to coach additional swim programs, such as clinics, camps, and training trips.
  • Foster team spirit and monitor swimmers' performance while providing motivation.
  • Display excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and be goal-oriented.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Head Swim Coach:
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Preferred experience in administration, lifeguarding, and swim instruction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Prior experience in competitive coaching or participation is required.
  • Familiarity with the rules, regulations, and guidelines of relevant swim leagues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with members, staff, and supervisors.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with proficiency in computer use.
  • Knowledge of Hy-Tek swimming software is a plus.
  • Required certifications: CPR, Lifeguard Training, Safety for Swim Coaches.
• Assistant Swim Coach:
  • Preferably at least one year of coaching experience.
  • Experience with USA Swimming is preferred.
  • Experience coaching children aged 5-18.
  • Passion for swimming.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility, with the ability to foster a winning team environment.
  • Required certifications: American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
  • Lifeguard certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Team Manager and Meet Manager software is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
• Occasionally assist or lift individuals in distress of varying weights.
• Stay alert to potential dangers while sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods.
