Job Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team in the Sleep Lab. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct overnight polysomnograms on pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under medical supervision.
  • Operate sophisticated medical equipment to record sleep/wake physiology, recognizing sleep pathology and responding with appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety.
  • Generate accurate and concise reports summarizing patient sleep/wake stages, respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movement, arousal analysis, and other clinical events.
  • Score sleep studies and communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing service, and other hospital personnel.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, quality control, preparation, and cleaning, as well as document procedures in the hospital information system, patient medical records, and department files.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • Licensed Polysomnographic Technologist by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Working Conditions

The Polysomnographic Technologist will work in a fast-paced sleep lab environment, requiring the ability to sit and monitor polysomnograms for several continuous hours. The position requires physical demands, including pushing/pulling patients and equipment, and working in a latex-safe environment.
