About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Howard University Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, including setting up and checking equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Assist the surgical team with patient preparation, positioning, and draping.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic techniques and sterile fields throughout the procedure.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure accurate and efficient surgical procedures.
  • Participate in maintaining the environment of care by identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
Requirements
  • Graduate of Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Six (6) months of surgical technology experience or having performed a minimum of 80 surgical procedures in the role of first scrub as a surgical technology student.
  • Must be able to obtain Surgical Technologist certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required.
