### Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN First Assistant to join our team at the Cleveland Clinic. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our surgeons during operative procedures.

### Key Responsibilities

* Evaluate, plan, implement, and document surgical nursing care for perioperative patients
* Function as the first assistant during operative procedures under the supervision of the attending physician
* Review patients' medical charts and documentation, relaying pertinent information and contraindications to the surgical team
* Assist the operating room team with positioning the surgical patient and setting up equipment
* Perform appropriate surgical skin preparation for assigned procedures using proper aseptic techniques and associated standards of care
* Provide operating team professional support by scrubbing into a surgery to relieve or cover a staffing absence
* Provide nursing care to patients in perioperative, PACU, and OR settings
* Maintain knowledge of operating room trends and advances in surgical technology
* Assume responsibility for continuing education and maintaining competency
* Train other surgical team members on proper surgical techniques

### Requirements

* Associates degree; BSN preferred
* Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio
* Certified registered first assistant (CRNFA)
* Current CPR certification and Basic Life Support (BLS)
* Five years operating room experience
* Working knowledge of physiological and anatomical aspects of surgical procedures

### Physical Requirements

* Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
* Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
* Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range
* Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids

### Work Environment

* Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
