Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Meter Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in the installation, removal, calibration, repair, and testing of water meters, as well as programming and troubleshooting Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) equipment. This role will involve installing, removing, calibrating, repairing, and testing water meters; programming and troubleshooting AMI equipment; turning water services on or off; and investigating customer complaints regarding their water meter.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fulfill daily work orders related to water meter maintenance and repairs
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues with AMI meters
• Assist with the reading of water meters as needed
• Schedule the replacement and testing of commercial meters by coordinating meter change out times with customers, preparing the sites for meter change outs, and enlisting contractor services as needed
• Maintain an inventory of water meter parts and supplies; schedule vendor deliveries or retrieve parts from vendor locations when necessary

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of one year of experience in the installation, removal, calibration, repair, and testing of water meters and in the programming and troubleshooting of AMI equipment
• Knowledge of principles and practices related to water meter installation, calibration, reading, maintenance, repair, and testing
• Knowledge of AMI systems, AMI meters, and programming equipment
• Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear, and procedures
• Ability to analyze and organize data and prepare reports
• Ability to operate personal computers, laptops, and tablets and utilize common office software programs
• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
