We are a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of the State of Virginia's system of community colleges. Our primary service area includes the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, as well as the counties of James City and York.

**Job Opportunity**

We seek an experienced HVAC instructor to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer semester. The teaching load is based upon student enrollment and staffing needs.

As an adjunct faculty member, you will be part of a standing pool from which we will draw when scheduling needs dictate. Please note that there is no guarantee of continued employment.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners.

About the Position:

This is a part-time position that requires instruction in various HVAC-related courses such as Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heat Pumps, Heating Systems I and II, Circuits and Controls, Planning and Estimating, and Mechanical Codes.

Responsibilities:**

  • Design and deliver instruction for day and evening classes.
  • Responsible for student assessment and grading.
  • Maintains adequate on-campus presence.
  • Provides timely communication with students, staff, and administrators of the College.

Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in HVAC, Refrigeration, or Air Conditioning, plus a minimum of two years of occupational experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators.
  • A willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
  • Ability to modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Teaching experience in online or hybrid, and traditional face-to-face classroom modalities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems.

Estimated Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
