Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Landscape Maintenance Lead Worker to join our team. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of flowers, trees, and other landscaping features across our properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the work of a small crew of Grounds Beautification Workers in the completion of specific tasks
  • Perform tasks including flower bed installation and maintenance, fertilizer and pesticide applications, bed maintenance and mulching
  • Assume supervision of the Beautification and Pesticide Application crews in the absence of the normal supervisor
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve common goals and objectives

Requirements

  • Experience in general grounds maintenance and/or landscape installation and maintenance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to safely and frequently move and handle heavy objects weighing 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to communicate effectively and have good teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a large commercial or educational setting
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicators License Category 3A & 3B
  • Experience applying pesticides and fertilizers commercially
