Your primary duty will involve preparing and baking products to guarantee that only the freshest items are available for our customers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Experience Required: Successful completion of job-specific skills assessment; 6 to 12 months of relevant experience or completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program.
  • Preferred Experience: Previous work in a Bakery or similar environment.
  • Education: No High School diploma necessary.
  • Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute bench work following established scratch procedures when necessary.
  • Prepare and shape products according to specifications based on scratch recipes.
  • Bake products using the appropriate time and temperature as outlined in recipes.
  • Produce Bakery items in accordance with established recipes, including scratch recipes.
  • Accurately place products into proof boxes, adjusting controls to ensure proper size and shape.
  • Prepare and fry donuts according to standard procedures.
  • Store products in the freezer to maintain freshness.
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues to meet guest expectations.
  • Demonstrate effective suggestive selling techniques and provide samples when suitable.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by welcoming guests and assisting them in locating desired products.
  • Prioritize safety in all work aspects for Team Members, guests, and products.
  • Bake and display prepared and scratch products, ensuring proper rotation and adherence to code dating procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, work surfaces, and utensils to comply with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Accurately document special orders for Bakery products to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation protocols, including emergency procedures and proper lifting techniques.
  • Understand the purpose of each ingredient used in the production of scratch baked goods.
  • Assist in maintaining the efficiency of the Bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer by unloading deliveries.
  • Gather necessary baking ingredients to prepare for baking operations, including all scratch recipes.
  • Support other areas as needed.
