About the Role
Mount Sinai Health System seeks a skilled Physician Assistant to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services under the direct supervision of a physician. Responsibilities
1. Assess patient health through interviews and medical history reviews, documenting care services in patient records.
2. Conduct physical examinations, providing treatment and counseling as needed. Recognize and respond to patients requiring immediate physician attention, initiating emergency medical treatment when necessary.
3. Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory studies, following up on x-rays and lab data, and interpreting test results.
4. Perform therapeutic procedures like injections, immunizations, suturing, post-operative care, and wound management. Utilize diagnostic techniques such as observation, palpation, percussion, and auscultation.
5. Counsel patients on prescribed treatments and health maintenance strategies.
6. Maintain accurate patient records, developing and implementing patient management plans, recording procedure and progress notes, and assisting in continuity of care.
7. Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to infection-control policies and other safety protocols.
8. Develop and deliver education related to pre- and post-operative evaluation and treatment plans.
9. Provide oversight for surgical cases, including scheduling and medical clearance.
10. Assist physicians during surgeries or complex medical procedures.
11. May prescribe medication as authorized by law and hospital policy.
12. Perform additional duties as required.
