Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Technician II to join our team at somniTech. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive sleep testing and analysis, as well as associated interventions, under the general supervision of a sleep technologist and/or medical director or designee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision of a sleep trainee.
  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Verifies patient identification, reviews medical orders, collects documents, and obtains consent for the study.
  • Explains the procedure and orients the patient for either in-center or out-of-center sleep testing.
  • Ensures proper instrumentation for each procedure.
  • Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
  • Performs routine Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) interface fitting and desensitization.
  • Responds to sleep patients procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate information.
  • Follows procedural protocols (such as Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
  • Performs appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and makes required adjustments.
  • Follows lights out procedures to establish and document baseline values (such as body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.).
  • Follows lights on procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g. repeat the physiological and instrument calibrations and instruct the patient on completing questionnaires, checking for completeness, etc.).
  • Assists with maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy.
  • Participates in quality assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and for the Center.
  • Compliance with the attendance policy.
  • Ability to respond quickly, physically, and mentally when priorities and/or the patient's condition changes.
  • Function independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and Center-related business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification.
  • Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility, preferred.
  • Six months of experience as a sleep technician I with documented proficiency in all required competencies, preferred.
  • Holds a Certified Polysomnography Technician (CPSGT) credential or equivalent, or a BRPT aligned credential making them board eligible, preferred.
Working Conditions

Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions; Category 1-Occupational exposure.

Frequently required to stand; full range of body motion including crouching, stooping, reaching, bending, and twisting may be required.

Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.

Occasionally required to walk and sit.

Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
