Position Overview

The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating various machine shop equipment, including manual Vertical Mills, Lathes, and Drills, with a focus on CNC proficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate all machinery while adhering to safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and machine guarding.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ascertain dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
  • Execute a diverse range of machining tasks such as turning, facing, chamfering, and cutting on different materials.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions on workpieces to guide subsequent machining processes.
  • Select and secure appropriate fixtures and cutting tools for each task.
  • Calculate and adjust machining parameters including speed, feed, depth, and angle of cut.
  • Monitor machine operations to identify malfunctions or deviations from specifications, making necessary adjustments.
  • Verify the conformity of finished products to established specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and report any irregularities to the supervisor.
Qualifications

Education & Experience: High School Diploma with up to 5 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.

Skills Required
  • Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and technical manuals.
  • Proficient in basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong reasoning skills to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements

This role requires regular standing, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional pulls of up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Employees will work in proximity to moving mechanical parts, with a moderate noise level that varies based on workload.

The salary range for this position is between $43,100.00 and $64,500.00, complemented by benefits and potential bonuses.
