Radiation Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Dosimetrist to join our team at UChicago Medicine's Ingalls Memorial Hospital. As a Dosimetrist, you will play a critical role in the radiation oncology department, working closely with radiation therapists and physicists to deliver high-quality patient care.

• Calculate dose distributions based on patient input data and prescription plans selected by radiation oncologists.
• Determine radiation-producing equipment settings for specific prescriptions for patients to be treated.
• Develop brachytherapy plans and assist physicists in their implementation.
• Plan treatment techniques using computer and/or manual computations to deliver specified doses to defined target volumes.
• Design and fabricate beam-modifying devices.
• Record results of dosage calculations in patient radiation therapy charts and verify accuracy of all entries.
• Assist in intracavitary and interstitial sealed source procedures, and in subsequent manual and/or computer calculation of dose distributions.
• Keep current on new treatment planning techniques and perform duties independently with consultations as needed.

• Bachelor of Science or higher degree or certification in Radiation Therapy Technology and completion of a Medical Dosimetry training program.
• One to two years of experience working as a Dosimetrist.
• Eligibility for certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
