At Apple Inc., we're seeking a seasoned Software Quality Engineering Manager to lead our Find My team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you'll be responsible for directing a team of Test Engineers and Automation Engineers to ensure the highest quality standards are met for our innovative products and services.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a significant impact on the quality of our products. As the QE Manager, you'll partner with various technical teams to lead the quality engineering team, using Automation, Functional, and Exploratory Testing to drive quality excellence. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a team of test development engineers and collaborating with multiple engineering teams to develop and support Find My products and features.
- Developing innovative ways to automate and expand our software testing.
- Compiling, analyzing, and presenting test results to drive and improve Apple's product quality.
- Supporting pager-duty on a 24/7 as-needed basis.
- Leading team members across different time zones, including Europe.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Coding skills in C++, Objective C, Python, Java, or related OOD languages.
- Experience supporting HW, Firmware, Embedded, and daemon-level software QA solutions.
- Hands-on knowledge of communication protocols, including Bluetooth and Cellular.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, including triaging, debugging, automating, testing, etc.
- Proven experience working with at least one of Apple's ecosystems, such as Find My, AirTag, AirPods, Watch, iPhone, CarPlay, etc.
- Demonstrated passion for quality and the ability to discuss tangible improvements to both product and process.
- Ability to describe how you've mentored team members to improve their skill-sets and deliverables.
- Experience driving release decisions, scoping work, and driving bug convergence.
- Hands-on experience writing strong object-oriented code, including creating automation frameworks and test scripts for large-scale testing scenarios.
- Comfortable with fast-paced, schedule-driven development.
- Track record of building strong working relationships across large organizations.
- Able to work in an ambiguous and highly interdependent work environment to get things done efficiently and tactfully.
- Ability to motivate people, instill accountability, and achieve results.
- Experience creating and bringing to bear qualitative metrics and measurements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
We're looking for candidates with experience as an Engineering Manager or a Software Quality Manager, as well as those with experience working with accessories or other HW, Web and Services QE experience, and the ability to attract, retain, and grow people to create a self-organized and highly empowered team.
Additional Information
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
