Job Summary

The Nurse Infection Control Specialist will provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for all staff and residents. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the infection prevention and control program, conducting training seminars and exercises, and having a working knowledge of nursing practice and theory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the infection prevention and control program to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and residents.
  • Conduct training seminars and exercises to educate staff on infection prevention and control best practices.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to identify and address infection control concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest infection prevention and control guidelines and protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care.
Requirements
  • Primary professional training in nursing and LPN/RN preferred; completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.
  • Bachelor's Degree in applied clinical science (Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Public Health).
  • Five years of relevant clinical experience and a broad level of experience including critical care, emergency medicine, and medical/surgical nursing.
  • Previous experience in teaching, curriculum development, and instruction is desired.
  • Membership in either APIC or SHEA.
  • The IP should be adaptable and flexible to meet a wide range of service needs.
