The Motion Picture Association, Inc. (MPA) is a global leader in the fight against online piracy, working closely with its members to protect their films, television shows, and live events.

We are seeking a skilled Counsel to join our team and support the Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Content Protection and Legal Affairs (Intermediary Programs). This role will play a key part in managing our global intermediary outreach program and driving results through effective vendor relationships, strategic initiatives, and data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage vendor relationships for the global intermediary program, ensuring efficient delivery of program objectives while auditing and synthesizing vendor data for use by the MPA and its members.
  • Support outreach to intermediaries, drafting and reviewing correspondence, managing communications, and tracking engagement with these key stakeholders.
  • Assist in coordinating voluntary initiatives with intermediaries to prevent their services from being abused by piracy operators.
  • Conduct legal research and drafting related to the intermediary program, including preparing reports, drafting requests via voluntary agreements, and gathering information on specific intermediaries and their roles.
  • Support broader global content protection strategies, conducting factual and technical research, monitoring developments, and assisting in the preparation of reports and materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams at the MPA and its members to facilitate the intermediary program and address legal or operational challenges.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Valid bar license, preferably in California or Washington, D.C.
  • 2-3 years of experience practicing law, ideally in a law firm or in-house legal department focused on the entertainment industry. Experience with content protection, copyright law, DMCA/ROIs, and civil litigation is highly valued.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise correspondence and legal documents.
  • High level of professionalism, work ethic, and integrity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with digital content platforms, social media, search engines, payment processors, and other digital intermediaries.
  • Understanding of statistics and research methodologies with the ability to evaluate and create data-driven strategic reports.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and generous paid time off.
