Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple tax projects simultaneously, scheduling and coordinating workflow, and developing and training staff. You will also be responsible for ensuring the firm complies with tax law on all tax returns prepared and maintaining awareness of any new tax legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Manage multiple tax projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Staff Development: Develop and train staff, providing on-the-job training and reviewing tax returns and workpapers prepared by staff.
  • Client Management: Maintain contact with clients throughout the year, possessing a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of their business and industries they serve.
  • Leadership: Supervise staff, motivate and evaluate their performance, and provide accurate, specific, and timely feedback.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for tax preparation projects, reviewing causes of any significant deviations from predetermined budgets.
  • Communication: Prepare engagement letters, invoices, and communicate with clients, partners, and tax director on the status of work in progress and important client developments.
  • Professional Development: Participate in career development programs to improve managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or master's degree in accounting. A Bachelor's or Advanced degree in another business discipline may qualify if it includes enough accounting credits to qualify for the CPA exam, JD, MST, or EA.
  • Experience: 6+ years' experience in Public Accounting and 1+ years' experience supervising and directing work staff.
  • Certifications: An active certified public accountant's license or other LPC approved certification is required.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA firm, ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, verbal and written, and proficiency in use of computers and tax software.
