As a skilled Addiction Medicine Nurse Counselor at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients struggling with addiction. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting thorough nursing assessments, identifying detoxification needs, and developing personalized treatment plans. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery and maintain high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough nursing assessments of patients, screening for detoxification needs and other health-related concerns.
• Develop and implement outpatient detoxification protocols, administering medications and processing laboratory requests as directed by physicians.
• Evaluate and document the efficacy of treatments and/or medications taken by patients.
• Function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, making referrals, advocating for patient needs, and coordinating care delivery.
• Provide consultation services to physicians and nurses within other Kaiser medical departments as directed.
• Order, receive, and distribute pharmaceuticals and medical supplies as necessary.
Requirements:
• Minimum two (2) years of experience providing nursing care in an addiction treatment setting.
• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
• Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of practice standards within the field of addiction treatment, community organizations, and referral resources.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
